It's the time where slavery is at its highest peak, where runaway servants get severely punished for fleeing from their cruel masters. But in spite of that knowledge some are desperate enough to take even that as a possible consequence, and try to run away, but there's one big threat awaiting out there, the slave hunters. For payment, they hunt runaway slaves just to bring them back to their heartless masters who can't wait to lash their anger out on them again. This is the era of Lee Dae Gil, and his fellow slave hunter comrades, a pitiless bunch, who would seemingly do anything for money.

What a masterpiece! Oh my- But most of all I'm seriously in love with the soundtracks. I definitely recommend it.

Decent fighting scenes, good acting, absolutely amazing. Pretty much noticeable that this drama isn't a cheap production. Though at first it may seem slow paced, and goalless, with each episode it grew onto me. The fates of various personages are being displayed in a very empathic manner. I definitely recommend it.
The ending was so goddamn sad though..but I'm glad that Dae Gil didn't have to die alone. Although one may have the impression that Song Tae Ha should have been the one to perish, I am of the belief that for Dae Gil the death bells rang already for quite a while, and that it must have been one of the more fulfilling moments for him when he could tell Eon Yeon to go, and let her go to a better future. Unlike at the beginning where he hid, and watched like a scaredy cat how Eon Yeon was being kidnapped, this time he finally managed to wield his sword and die in the attempt of protecting the future of the love of his life. What more can such an ill-fated man want? It was really cute how he bought all the land, and abodes for his friends...ah..and how I felt sorry for the girl who ended up burying him..especially when knowing that she really really liked him. Even the scene when the son-in-law of the minister came home, and started crying on the lap of his handicapped wife..somehow very touching, and also the slaves' fate..how heartbreaking it must have been when they found out that they've been so shamelessly tricked into their own demise. I think this is one of the dramas, where on the one hand I was really sad that it had to be so tragic, but in its tragicomic-ness I found this to be one of the most satisfying endings I saw thus far in a Korean historical drama.
