Kang Geon Wu, famous maestro, a perfectionist who holds himself in high esteem for working hard to reach where he is now. Kang Geon Wu, a young man who shares the same name as the maestro, but hates music with a passion despite his natural genius in playing the trumpet. Unknowingly bringing those two together is the cheerful Durumi who has a dream of playing in an orchestra at least once in her life before her illness takes away her sense of sound.

My all time favourite drama and the best music-related movie I have ever seen. Beats even my so far favourite Mozart’s biographical movie. The actors did wonderfully, Kim Myeong Min was exceptionally good, and the staff did a fantastic job on coming up with such plot, but, yes, it could have been longer.

I understand how, when the drama was first aired in Korea, there was a sudden increase in the sales of classical instruments and cd's.
I am still surfing through the web trying to find a good deal for a cello. Curse the day I gave up music!

You will most likely not like this if you don’t like classical music.

Beethoven Virus, having its focus on the drama that is called life with its many setbacks, but also on the indispensable hope of clinging to dreams. Beethoven Virus feels a lot more mature than many other Korean rom-coms. There are without a doubt certain parallels to Japanese shows to be found that also deal with shortcomings in society in a subtle way. Most of all "Nodame Cantabile" comes to mind, which also features the motive of classical music, but "Beethoven Virus" despite some comical insertions is more about anything else rather serious in tone, which isn't a bad thing at all.

Honestly speaking I wish it were longer.

Kang geon wu (the maestro) did well as the eccentric, arrogant musician who would rather throw away the whole orchestra than correct the mistake of one player. I am now convinced that he is a maestro in real life and refuse to believe he is an actor @_@
The drama has too many episodes if you ask me, I dont know why Korean drama tends to stretch what cant be stretched for no reason O_O but the episodes in between were OK, anythink to keep watching more of Beethoven virus XD
the characters were diverse and some were funny while others were right out annoying -_- the main character Durumi is cute and at first i liked her very much, but along the show she just turned stale and confusing because she couldnt decide which Kang geon wu she loved -_-!
It is said that the drama was loosely based on the Japanese Nodame Cantabile, but there is no connection between the two other than the fact that both drama have an orchestra. while nodame is centered around the music and the love between characters and the comedy, also about the hardships that face musicians in the classical genre. Beethoven virus was the typical Korean love triangle that never really solves itself untill the very end, and the story kept going back and forth between the orchestra members joining or leaving the band and didnt focus on the hardships they might face on the field. It was like a story written about a love triangle that happens to be in an orchestra, not about an orchestra that works hard and finds love along the way *__*
it was fun though, i dont know how they convinced me to watch it till the very end XD that means there is something good about it, right? i still feel happy when i think about this drama, so i guess you can give it a shot if you liked nodame but want something less silly\halarious or just want it to be in Korean language *_*
