@nanuklein Did he seem like he was doing it just for the sake of humor, or for the sake of being antagonistic? There's really no sense in acting that way.
Honestly, his acting, films, comedy, etc. is really hit or miss for me, but I've kinda lost respect for him if he's pushing his "sense of humor" to that extent, especially singling out certain groups of people.

I'm watching his films at the moment and I'm so in love with his style that he's already one of my favourite directors. I'll post my top kitano films as soon as I complete his filmography, so far hanabi is my favourite.

@lustmord, wow, that's not cool. :/ Anyway I've seen chi to hone, and if he's anything close to that, he's really scary.

No problem :)

@komorebi, yeah, he worked as a comedian prior to that, and I remember that he was making fun of handicapped, elderly, ugly people to the point that he got censored because he was being too crude to be considered funny.

Actually when I saw him act the role in chi to hone, I kind of felt that it was him to some extent. There is something really disgusting about him. Something really raw.

Oh that would be nice of you! I kind of feel like reading it. lol

@lustmord, I don't remember the name, but I can ask my colleage next week and tell you afterwards? Yeah it depends. I didn't read it yet, so I don't know how bad it is, but him and his girlfriend both didn't finish it xD

@komorebi which book was it? I kind of get the chuckle attack when I hear or read about sexist things coming from men..I don't know..it's like they're not even trying to hide their complex towards females which makes it funny in my eyes.
komorebi 18 May, 2012
@lustmord, I know, a colleague of mine once read a book from him, and he said it was so sexist he couldn't even get past the first few pages. Didn't know about him making fun of disabled people though. I don't know if some people call that eccentric or anything, I just think that's no way to behave. Well, it's not like he would listen to people telling him that.

And concerning the article, it did seem provokative, but I think the only one who thought it was funny was himself. And if this is his sense of humour, I still find it disgusting.

@komorebi -- "On the talk show "Information 7 Days Newscaster", where they often ask questions on recent events and have a light-hearted time with a panel of guests from pop culture and entertainment, Takeshi was asked on as a guest. In-between many less controversial topics, the host mentioned the fact that US President Obama had come out in favor of same-sex marriage, showing a clip of people celebrating his statements, and Takeshi and the young actress Eri Watanabe responded to it.

Takeshi seemed amused and said, "Mr. Obama seems to support same-sex marriage. This means he will support marriage with an animal eventually, doesn't it?"

Eri Watanabe replied, "What are you saying? Why do you say that? I hope that same-sex marriage will be legal as well in Japan some day. Same-sex couples might be able to adopt and raise children. If such nice couples increase, I think it's a good thing."

Takeshi replied with a laugh, "In Egypt, even blood brothers and sisters can get married."

Eri, taken aback, stammered, "Brothers and sisters!? That... that is..."

Takeshi, pushing the topic further, "But let's think about a gay couple who adopts a child. If two married men raise a child, how will the child be raised? What do you think about it?"

The anchorwoman, Ms. Mikumo, chimed in, "If they cherish the child, then..."

Eri finished, "The child can be properly raised. Decently."

Takeshi replied, "However, the child will be bullied by people saying, 'Your mother is a father.'"

Eri retorted sincerely, "To avoid such a thing, we should continue to make efforts, don't we? If the couple loves the child, what makes a difference between a gay couple and a hetero couple?"

Takeshi laughed, getting more raucous than before, "If both hetero-sex marriage and same-sex marriage are okay, then you can marry an animal, can't you?"

Eri, with a confused look, "Why are you talking like that? Am I stupid because I am taking you seriously? Don't I have to be serious? Are you kidding around, Takeshi?"

And they moved on, with Takeshi appearing to be rather amused by the rise he got out of his comments."

Looks like he was provoking the co-hosts (especially the young actress ) and trying to confuse them with his rotten sense of humour.
