It is Shanghai in the 40s, the main protagonist, Wang Jia Zhi, has to seduce a certain man for the sake of a very important task.
I like movies with tense atmosphere, and this one was no exception. Despite of the duration (160 minutes), there were no lame moments at all. Every little thing was just in its right place. Although there were no epic plot twists, the film was very enjoyable.
The characters were great and the actors were able to perform them amazingly. Especially Tang Wei, I didn't expect her to act that well.
The female protagonist does not belong to the type of people I like, but I still liked her a lot. She is a strong, brave woman who is ready to sacrifice important things for her beloved. Usually I didn't understand the male protagonist, but he interested me a lot.
The setting, directing and camera work were amazing. I totally fell in love with the film's beauty. Couldn't take my eyes off the screen – a real treasure for aesthetes like myself. Like I already mentioned, everything was just in its right place.
