Hideo Nakata failed us with The Complex. It started interesting and promising enough, with subtle building up of tension and intrigue, but it was soon marred by predictable twists. This was a very classic and basic story, we've already seen everything before so there's not much of an impact or a lasting impression to be left. And what was up with Narimiya Hiroki's character? He seemed like an after thought, a stock character that was needed to move things from point A to point B. A better backstory was severely needed for him. And the last nail in this movie's coffin is the lack of any actual scares. It had like one creepy moment (creepy, not scary), but that was it. At least the cinematography was great and I liked the references to a certain Swedish horror movie (I think pretty much everyone who has seen both movies will get them). All this may seem like I hated it, but I didn't, it was simply average, kind of like a 2.5. Definitely watchable, but ultimately nothing special.

Narimiya why I smile automatically when you appear on the screen. Love.
Foreseeable.
Sasahara deserved a better story, since he is one of the ' main '.
