One word that describes this special is "flat" really really flat. I thought overall while it kept the same sort of comedy spots and the unreal stunts of the original drama series, I thought it paled in comparison to it.

The special took a while to get going and I really felt it drag up until Onizuka enters the club to save the girls. The majority of everything before it could have been deleted in all honesty. I also thought that the old characters from the original drama especially the teachers didn't play a large enough role and they could have done more than give them about two minutes of air time. The new characters like the girls I thought were just a "cheap knock-off" of the original characters as I thought they lacked the personality to really connect with the viewer in this instance.

Furthermore I thought the plotline was awful as they just reused the original plotline from the start of the original series as someone has already mentioned it is a group of students who don't like him and he has to try and solve their problems so they do like him. Moreover I didn't really feel much of the supposed romantic relationship between Fuyutsuki and Onizuka at all I still saw it as before and that is just a random fling. However I did enjoy the ending to the special which was an anti-climatic scene that didn't involve the fairy tale ending and the proposal by Onizuka. Nice touch there.

3/5.

This special was ok at best. I didn't like the idea of Onizuka substituting at another school, and it all felt washed out. Nothing original happens. He meets a group of students who don't like him. They have some personal issues, which Onizuka helps them resolve. At the end they all start to like him. That's basically it. It was watchable, because of Onizuka, but that's about it. 3/5

Not as good as the drama/movie but it was nice extra episode for the drama.
