Along an old fashioned shopping street there is a small coffee shop that might go unnoticed unless it was being looked for. This is Coffee-ya, where the locals go to partake in a cup of bitter coffee to offset the bitterness of life. The shop is owned and run by Soda Kousuke, an unassuming man who has returned home to continue where his late father left off. It was Kousuke's father who taught him that "a cup off coffee can change a life," and so that is what Kousuke offers his customers in times of need. Kousuke knows better than anyone how easily a life can be changed: thirteen years ago he murdered a man and went to prison. If only he had drunk the cup of coffee his fathered had offered him that day, things might have turned out very differently. Now a woman has appeared before Kousuke, Kashiwagi Fuyuko, and unbeknownst to him they share an intrinsic connection.
