Very emotionally charged film with strong feelings of loneliness and depression. The actors did an amazing job at portraying such sensitive and violent characters. Most of the feelings from the film are told throught the actors' facial expressions, the little dialogue and the paintings, resulting in a very quiet yet deep film. It's a film about self-discovery. There's some violence in it but it's far from beeing a violent film and there's also a funny and sweet side. The scenes with his wife are really touching. The soundtrack by Joe Hisaishi is both melancholic and beautiful and it adds to the atmosphere of the film.

This has always been my favourite film from Kitano and I think I like it even more now after getting to know him better as a human beeing and the impact that the motorbike crash had on his life and career.

9/10

violence with philosophy with it... omg - awesome. I just can't ever rate any movies of biito takeshi as masterpiece because they are too awesome for me I guess... or are they really not perfect. Either way... I feel life I've lost some really important things of this film... and I'm so sorry about it - I'll watch it again after I wont be so tired. Really tragic film. Not much said in words, but there is so much in those movies... pretty depressing btw=\ hmm...
