Synopsis

The year is 2199, and the Earth has been suffering from a radioactive siege caused by extraterrestrials known as the Gamilas for five years. This caused the Earth's surviving population to move underground in attempt to escape the bombardment, but the contamination is slowly penetrating and reaches them. Then, the last space ship of the exhausted Earth Defense Forces, Yamato, is sent into space, on a journey to a planet located in the Large Magellanic Cloud, in order to acquire a device that can heal the ravaged Earth before it is too late.

They are both based on manga, and are set on space ships.

I would rather watch Boku no Pico live action... twice.

KUROKI MEISA AGAIN.
I swear this chick loves to act with Johnnys, no wonder she married one.
This movie was SUCH a disappointment.
Not only was it boring, a let down and... Kimura+Kuroki (-shock-), but I figured after watching this, Japan can't do live action sci-fi alien movies... Just leave it to the Americans and stick with your horrors ok Japan...

Horrible. I was thinking I wouldn't make it to the end, but somehow I managed to. Still, the most overrated movie I've ever seen.

I watched this on the flight back home after the big earthquake in Japan. Pretty weird to watch this with all its the world going down due to being irradiated" when the whole Fukushima-thing is going on... so the whole "feeling" of the movie was kinda off for me. But even in normal condition I guess this was nothing too special. Unfortunately.

This was really disappointing. Special effects were awesome, but the story was extremely linear. It desperately need more comedic relief and character development. Self sacrifice is a very admirable thing but it got very redundant in this movie, and I didn't really even care when the characters died any way because there was no feeling in this movie. C'mon, make me feel! The story was executed so poorly, it felt forced.

It was ok movie but nothing special. The movie was well made but I'm not fan of this genere and sometimes I was bored.
Even thought Kuroki and Kimura are in different acting league I think she suited for her role here.

It was average. The effects looked cool and all, but the whole plot was kinda cliche, acting wasn't too good, and the ending... blah.

@mitte I agree! Meisa + Kimura couple should be banned from watching >.< She doesn't deserve to star next to him, uh. She's pretty but nothing else.

I liked it, mostly coz of the storyline that was indeed interesting. I don't like sci-fi movies but I liked this one. But it was horribly long! And I suspected it'd be bad (coz it's sci-fi?) maybe that's why I wasn't disappointed at all.

Plus, nice credit song!
