Synopsis

Dae Ung is a spoiled rich boy who dreams of being an action movie star and spends his time making viral videos with his friends and attending auditions. However, when his grandfather discovers he's spent his college tuition on a motorcycle and free meals for his mooching group of friends, Dae Ung is forced to return home. He escapes however, and as he looks for a place to lay low, he ends up at an old temple where a mysterious woman's voice beckons him through his cellphone towards a painting of a fox, on which he is to draw nine tails. In doing so, Dae Ung releases a centuries-old gumiho (nine-tailed fox) who was trapped and she forces him to become her boyfriend and care for her every need, or else!

The Drama started off REALLY good. I was caught by the story, because it was connected to some lovely korean tales. There is some kind of painting and for some reason, a Gumiho (nine tailed fox) is caught in there. The main guy happens to free that girl and now she chases him for food and tells him, she would kill him if he didn't do what she wanted. Now here is where the fun story begins: Will he do everything she wants?

The characters were fun to watch. I like how Ung-ah is egoistic and how Mi Ho seems to see the world like an alien. They were really cute together and I enjoyed seeing their relationship grow. The story itself didn't get too bad, I just was annoyed by a few points:

First of all, that Nuna from Ung-ah is just really really really REALLY annoying. She is BEYOND every other side-girl in every other drama. I just started to hate her so much, I couldn't even watch her scenes properly and that made watching the drama as a whole seem like hard work. I got tired of her face and her acts and was just happy, when a scene with her was over.

Secondly, how can they make "Min U" talk like THAT. He really is great and he portrays his character well, but I got annoyed at how randomly-soft and randomly-sad his voice sounded. Not to talk about that teary eyes all the time.

Then also, WTH is wrong with these characters?! At some point of the story I couldn't follow their thoughts and was helpless at how to think of their actions. Why did Ung-ah do this and why is he doing the opposite from that now? Why does Mi Ho know this and do that? From Episode 12 on I couldn't really follow their feelings, so that's why this drama lost a lot of potential for a masterpiece.

Last but not least: I was really really REALLY disappointed with the ending. I already smelled a bad ending at episode 5, but what they presented me was way beyond everything I thought of an "ok ending". It was as if the Hong-sisters tried to run away from an explanation WHY everything happend like it has happened... That really made the drama bad. If you like dramatical stuff you might probably like this (and the Nuna).

Still, the characters were cute, so I can't bring myself to rate it only good. Also, the music was LOVELY. I really need that soundtrack, since I had some songs from the drama stuck in my head a whole week while waiting for the next episode.

Both are a good story about a gumiho who falls in love with a human guy.

Both are fantastical romances, with life or death consequences. They have magical elements, with Queen In Hyeon's Man being a time travel drama and My Girlfriend Is A Gumiho having a supernatural/magical character. Characters in both dramas struggle to adjust to modern times and conventions. Not to mention the couples in both are really adorable. If you want a cute supernatural romance then go for My Girlfriend Is A Gumiho.

Mi Ho and Dae Woong are one of the cutest couples that I've ever seen. They were adorable and so was the drama. I love it. I can rewatch this all the time.
