É um spin off apenas.

I didn't even know it was based on a manhwa although that almost seems obvious in retrospect...
Plotwise this wasn't outstanding because it was a very, very typical romance drama in many aspects. Convenient coincidences, cheesy scenes for the sake of being cheesy, rich characters leading a life in which they don't really seem to work much, random wacky side characters... and so on. There were many things I normally really hate about Korean dramas but what this drama did really well was how the characters were portrayed. Everyone had reasons for their actions and there was no evil antagonist that was mean just for the sake of it. I loved how all the central characters hit a point when they were close to breaking down.
I loved So Ah for pretending to be indifferent about everything because she was terrified of being hurt. I love how Ha Baek, who was also hurt before, allowed himself to accept that he was in love and that his actions were irresponsible. I loved Moo Ra who deep down was kind-hearted and Bi Ryeom who constantly offended others but wasn't actually a bad guy. I absolutely loved the story about Sin Hu Ye who was raised to believe that his existence was something he had to be punished for and who constantly struggled because he wanted to be good, he wanted to be more than what he was made out to be. I also loved side characters like Sang Yu who wanted to repay So Ah for the kindness her father paid him, no matter how mean she was to him.

I also liked how it all wrapped up in the end. Issues that were addressed in the beginning finally made sense in the end.
It was super cheesy but the story of So Ah's father who saved her life broke my heart and I liked that Ha Baek's decision (as stupid as it was) made sense in a way because he knew that there was a chance So Ah would just jump into the river again once he was gone. If he had to leave her either way, he at least wanted her to live and that was beautiful.

Also, the music! They used that so well and there were so many lovely songs.

Seriously, I like the drama a lot.

@purtysunshine Couldn't agree more. It seems this drama lacks the 'magic' about deities and 'magic lands'. Actually, there's nth magic about this spin off.

It's nothing you haven't seen before.

The main character is stripped off his magic during the entire drama, so most of the god stuff is all talk and no action. The godhood is basically an excuse for Habaek to act all proud and entitled like a classic male drama lead, while also being a stranger in present day world, which is why he needs the female lead to serve him.

But Krystal looked really nice.

Whomp Whomp. Don't get me wrong, it was good...it just could have been so much better. The drama is very, VERY different from the manhwa...in fact it hardly resembles it at all. While I did enjoy some of the aspects of the direction the production team took I have to wonder if the drama would have been more magical and unique had they stuck more to the original story. It's definitely worth a watch, just felt like something was missing and off the whole time. Bummer.
