Hong Seon Hui and Jang Dong Cheol were first loves in high school. Now, many years later, they are reunited under rather unusual circumstances; Seon Hui is married with a daughter and Dong Cheol is now Song Jae Bin, a famous movie star. Seon Hui is so changed he doesn't recognise her. After Seon Hui's husband is jailed for fraud, Seon Hui is reluctantly allowed to move in with Jae Bin as his live in housekeeper, however the feelings from high school start to return.
The Last Scandal is a refreshing rom-com that takes the older generation falling in love and makes it entertaining.
Despite the show being somewhat outlandish (in that the male lead is a famous movie star), the heart of the story is based in reality. She must deal with facing a cheating husband, raising a daughter on her own and making a living for them both. He must face the reality that he just cannot be a priority in her life, and both must face the impact the romance will have at an age where there are so many other, more important things. For all the issues that being connected with a celebrity entails, what kept this story entertaining was the romance, pure and simple. The second leads are not malicious, the family dynamics are heart-warming, and the acting is top-notch.
Definitely a must-watch, if for nothing else than taking the older couple romance, and making it as fun, fresh and realistic as those of the younger couples.
In both dramas a single mother is struggling to find a good job and new home for her and her daughter.
Then she meets a rich and famous actor and by chance discovers one of his secrets. She tries to blackmail him, saying that she would reveal that secret to the press -- for the sake of getting what she wants -- and ends up working at his home as a live in housekeeper.
