I watched the first two Death Note movies only because of the hype everybody was in. And after watching the first two movies, why not the thrid, too? I already knew, that it didn't really connect to the first two movies. That was another reason for me to actually give this part a chance. And I really liked the outcome!

L is just a great character and no psycho Light, Misa or Police interfering was very nice. I loved the kids and at some point hoped that L wouldn't have to die after 23 days. The main story about the virus reminded me pretty much of Bloody Monday, but not in a bad way. It only means, that there are many crazy people to try to "clean" the world with virus-weapons.

The reason why this movie only gets 4 stars is probably because there is something missing. Again. I felt like the story wasn't that new to me and even though I had times where I laughed and times where I felt touched, I didn't feel like it's a "masterpiece". It's only a nice story for all the L-Fangirls out there. Can be watched without knowing the first two movies. So 4 stars for this one.

Both of these involve killer masterminds that are not technically bad people. The creators of both of these really used the idea of death and revenge really well and in similar ways.

I liked this one better than the first two (except it was more gory than I expected... I had to close my eyes for a couple of scenes); there was more emotion in it. It was less of mystery-solving than the first one, but good nonetheless.
Also I'm confused about Near because I thought L was alive when Near was introduced (maybe I remember the manga wrong?)

Not as great as first death note, but more about L of course, which is great, 'cause he is my favourite character. Good work of everyone again. Funny and touching moments. I like that. (but I still have something agains, and don't even know what O_o)
