It was interesting, a really nice family, slice-of-life drama that seemed to enjoy incorporating lots of random historical events that affected the characters directly and indirectly. It was amusing and nice to watch just to pass the times.
If you're expecting a deep, profound, moving storyline this isn't really the type but it holds its own greatness. It really makes you think about family and how nice it is to have one. To have siblings and to watch your family grow and to see your siblings suceed and lead succesful, happy lives. It showed the changes Japan went through after the war, and how much affect in had, on just one family but I'm sure what happened to the Yame family happened to everyone.
It's very sweet and makes your heart feel all warm and fuzzy in the end. And no, it's not just because of the little boy.
