Lee Jeong Ju is sent to work on Jeju Island, which turns out was a way for her employer to get rid of her. At first, she gets very upset but eventually decides to start a blank page and begin everything from scratch on the island. She gets her first opportunity when Baek Geon U, a local restaurant owner, offers her a job at his restaurant after misunderstanding and thinking she is fatally ill. The two of them both fight with the demons of the past and try to find a meaning to their lives.
Warm and Cozy is nothing ground breaking when it comes to summer romantic comedies. There's the misunderstandings, the interfering second leads and twisted connections. But despite all that the show manages to stay pretty lighthearted.
The biggest flaw are the characters. Beak Geon U is both infuriating in how he treats Lee Jeong Ju and also sweet when he wants to be. Which leads to a rollercoaster that's not always fun. And while Hwang Uk is written- and acted- to keep you invested, Mok Ji Won feels like she was added in as an after thought, with little depth.
That being said, the acting is well done, capturing nuances and chemistry. And the directing captures the warm summer days and picturesque feel of Jeju Island.
Not the best out there, not the worst. And great if you're a fan of the main leads.
