Life on Mars shows how to do remakes, time travel and police procedural well.
The show manages to make the time travel aspect intriguing by constantly playing with the idea that the male lead actually is in a coma and not truly in the past. This coupled with a multi-timeline overarching case creates for a suspenseful show. There's the cases of the week but every episode beautifully ties into the larger arcs.
Kudos goes to the cast as much as the production team who create amazing characters who are rough on the outside but grow on you.
A definite recommend for anyone, the show sets a high standard.
