They are both about siblings struggling to get through a disaster. Hotaru no Haka follows 2 siblings struggling to keep alive during a war and Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 follows 2 siblings struggling to get home and stay alive. Both are really beautiful and sad animes with lot of emotions. I highly recommend you watch both.

This movie is just amazing.

It was much better than I expected it to be!
You know, 'cause remakes of Anime/Manga are often ridiculous! But this was unbelievable good!
The plot is a little bit changed, but who cares?
And that little girl who played Setsuko was amazing.
Especially where she's begging Seita not to leave her alone.

Anyways, even after watching the Anime movie 2 times I cried a bit. ^^"

This was sad, didn't cry when I watched this but I cried when I watched the animated version (and I cried a lot xD)

It's very sad, and it's really similar to the animated version.

no, the plot is from another perspective... sorta. But it's similar in a way.
