Genji, who just got into Suzuran high school, where violent gangs struggle with each other, wants to take the control of it. Katagiri, an ex yakuza, advises him and Genji must fight against his rival, Serizawa.
Very original fight scene editing for the first 20m or so and while it shouldn't have been overdone, it ended up "under" done as the style barely came back for the remaining 1h40...
Typical plot but interesting and layered characters (thank goodness!). I felt Rinda-man looked like a serial killer; like the air around him really did change! Great acting from all the cast!
I thought I had figured out the ending but it wasn't all as it seemed...
This movie is so awesome. It was very well filmed (Takashi Miike did a great job as always.. ) and the characters were well-staffed. I really loved them (almost all of them xD). But what got me really carried away, was the OST. I got goosebumps in the opening scene~ In my opinion OSTs are very important for a movie/drama to work, and this movie shows what an impact it could have when the OST fits perfectly. Really loved the whole package~ *-* *blaaah*
this is, and will always be, my favourite movie (+ the 2nd one)
don't know how many times I've watched it.
I know the lines by heart and still not tired of it!
This is probably the best fighting movie ever made. I'm not into that genre in general and that says a lot about this one. Well chosen music, characters that are "alive"... there is a certain charm to the lot that makes them all feel like nakama to me.
